SHAREHOLDER
Stephen W. Cooper joined Kegel, Tobin & Truce in 2002, becoming a shareholder in 2006. Mr. Cooper defends workers’ compensation matters before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board on behalf of clients such as self-insured employers and insurance companies. Steve also handles Labor Code Section 132a and Serious & Willful matters on behalf of employers and is a favorite educational presenter of his clients, both public and private. Presentation topics have included a general overview of the Workers’ Compensation system, Utilization Review, the QME Process, Case Law Updates and the AMA Guides.
Experience: Prior to entering the workers’ compensation defense field, Mr. Cooper clerked for the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office where he assembled and disclosed pre-trial discovery, interviewed witnesses and victims and argued motions.
Education: Steve earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from California State University, Northridge in 1994. He earned his law degree from Loyola University School of Law in 2002.
