Many of you are long-time clients and dear friends of Kegel, Tobin & Truce and are familiar with KT&T’s long history.  The firm has long been recognized as a pioneer and leader in the specialized field of workers’ compensation defense.  Over the years, the firm’s mission statement has been to provide our clients with the highest standard of ethical, legal representation and to pursue efficient, fair, and cost-effective resolution of injured workers’ claims.

Over the last two years we have undergone many changes.  As you may know, Joe Truce, our founder, treasured friend, and mentor, passed away last year.   Recent personnel attrition, the downsizing of our physical footprint, the remote nature of our work as well as other factors have prompted some soul searching.  After careful consideration, the shareholders of Kegel, Tobin & Truce have made the decision to take the firm and themselves in a different direction.

It is with mixed emotion and a heavy heart that we announce the dissolution of Kegel, Tobin & Truce, effective June 30, 2023.  This is not a decision that has been made lightly but with the best interests of every KT&T employee in mind.  We will be assisting our employees, including our incredible staff, as we transition through this process.  Equally important, we will continue to serve you, our trusted clients, and continue to provide quality representation and legal work for the next couple of months.  This will, of course, include attending conferences and trials, proactively handling your claims and assisting you as we have always done.

Our priority during this process is to ensure that your legal matters are handled with the utmost care and attention. We will be working diligently over the next two months to complete any outstanding work on your files. Some of our attorneys have indicated their intention to open new firms, while others may be joining existing firms.  For purposes of continuity, you may want your files to follow individual attorneys as they re-establish themselves at their new endeavors. Or you may decide on other options on or before June 30, 2023.  Either way, we will respect and facilitate your decisions.  But as of June 30, 2023, Kegel, Tobin & Truce will no longer be handling your claims and a substitution of attorney process will be needed to distribute your files to your chosen attorneys or brought in-house according to your wishes.  Please let us hear from you.

Most of all, we want to thank you for your loyalty, trust and belief in Kegel, Tobin & Truce over the years. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve you, our client, for the past 50 years. We are proud of our legacy and strongly believe that the spirit of KT&T will continue to live within all who have been on this amazing journey.

We will provide updates, additional information, and guidance in the coming days and weeks. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us and let us know how we can be of assistance.

Sincerely,

Joseph D. Kieffer, President
